McIntosh nets career high in Lady Lions loss

Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Tahlar McIntosh (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Alvernia HS) scored a career-high 21 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for a double-double on Thursday night as the Lincoln University women's basketball team fell behind early and couldn't rally in a 72-59 CIAA loss to Fayetteville State at Felton J. Capel Arena.
 
McIntosh, who broke her previous high of 18 points, was 4-of-12 from the floor and 13-of-14 from the free-throw line. Cynthia Johnson (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) and Amani Clark (Middletown, DE/Appoquinimink HS) each finished with eight points as the Lady Lions (6-8 overall, 2-2 CIAA) shot 26 percent (15-of-57) from the floor.
 
Lincoln behind, 27-14, after a free throw by Kristen Hanzer with 8:42 remaining in the opening half, but rallied during the final eight minutes to cut the double-digit deficit to 38-31 at the break.
 
A free throw by Je'Lena Robertson gave Fayetteville State a 50-36 advantage with 13 minutes left. Lincoln rallied and cut the deficit to 57-49 after a Johnson bucket with 7:06 remaining, but the Lady Broncos proved to be too much and extended the margin back to double digits with less than five minutes left.
 
Hanzer paced three Lady Bronco players in double figures with 16 points and eight boards. Akysia Resper finished with 14 points, while Tierra Coleman added 12 points and nine rebounds as Fayetteville State (12-2, 4-0) was 24-of-53 shooting for 45 percent.

Lady Lions Notebook: Tahlar McIntosh (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Alvernia HS) had 15 points in the first half (nine at the foul line) and reached double digit in points for the eighth straight game…Lincoln had one 3-pointer (Amani Clark (Middletown, DE/Appoquinimink HS))…The Lady Lions recorded 44 rebounds, nine steals, five assists and one blocked shot…This is the first of four Lady Lions road games as Lincoln has remaining on the road trip: Saint Augustine's, Shaw and Bowie State (CIAA Northern Division opener).
