Box Score
SPARKILL, N.Y.Denyse Moore (Hampton, Va./Woodside HS) poured in 15 points and pulled down eight rebounds, but it wasn't enough to slow down Saint Thomas Aquinas College on Wednesday night as the Lady Lions fell, 64-45, at Aquinas Hall.

Moore was 7-of-8 from the foul line and added four steals to pace Lincoln's offense. Cynthia Johnson (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) chipped in with 13 points and five boards and Brittney Waters (Capitol Heights, Md./Charles H. Flowers) finished with 10 points as the Lady Lions were 16-of-63 (25 percent) shooting from the field.

The Lady Lions (1-5) fell behind early, but battled back as Moore sank a free throw and drained a jumper to cut the Lady Spartans lead to 14-13 with 7:59 remaining in the opening half. Saint Thomas Aquinas responded by closing out the final seven and a half minutes on a 23-5 run to take a 37-18 advantage into the break.

Lincoln opened the second half strong with six straight points to close the gap to 37-24 with 16:02 remaining after a BritWaters layup. Despite the Lady Spartans pushing the lead to as many as 21 points, Lincoln refused to go away quietly and continued to chip away at the deficit and pulled to within, 54-40, after a bucket by Amani Clark (Middletown, DE/Appoquinimink HS) with 5:47 left.

However, that was as close as the Lady Lions would get as Saint Thomas Aquinas rode the wave of a hot-shooting first half to get the victory.

Shpresa Liharevic paced the Lady Spartans (3-5) with 18 points and six rebounds. Sara Oliveira had 15 points and Alexis Breheny chipped in with 12 points and eight boards as Saint Thomas Aquinas was 22-of-57 (39 percent) from the field.
