Lady Lions Claw Their Way to Victory in Season Finale

Haley Hendricks had a goal and an assist in the Lady Lions win over Salem International
Box Score LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – A Haley Hendricks (Carlsbad, Calif./Carlsbad HS) goal and a pair of assists helped lead the Lincoln University women's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Salem International University during Senior Day on Saturday at Lincoln University Stadium.

“To finish the season this strong is fantastic,” Lady Lions head soccer coach N. Fabio Boateng said. “We have struggled due to injuries this season. To win this for our seniors is a good way to say thank you for what they have given to our program.”

Lincoln opened the scoring in the 38th minute as Courtney Moss (Freeport, Bahamas/Sunland Baptist Academy) received the ball on the left side from Hendricks, along with Tara O'Brien (Twickenham London, UK/St. Mark's Catholic School) and went down the left sideline before firing a shot past Lady Tigers goalkeeper Whitney Brydge to give the Lady Lions a 1-0 lead.

After an excellent save by Brydge pushed the ball out of bounds for a corner kick, Hendricks cross on the set piece ended up in the back of the net for the goal and extended the Lincoln advantage to 2-0 in the 61st minute.

The Lady Lions, who out-shot the Lady Tigers, 14-10, added to the margin in the 82nd minute as Mariah Coates (Reading, Pa./Reading Senior HS) found the back of the net, off an assist by Hendricks and O'Brien, to give Lincoln a commanding 3-0 lead.

Emily Woodruff (San Diego, CA/Madison HS), who made her first collegiate start in goal for the Lady Lions, recorded four saves, while Brydge had six for Salem International (3-13).

Lincoln concludes the season with a 5-9 mark as the five wins tie the team record set in 2009 for most victories in the season.
