RALEIGH, N.C. – The Lincoln University women's basketball team opened CIAA play on Thursday night with an 81-66 loss to Saint Augustine's College at Emery Gymnasium.
Sharay DuBose (Salisbury, Md./Parkside HS) paced Lincoln (4-8 overall, 0-1 CIAA) with 15 points on 4-of-8 shooting.
Tahlar McIntosh (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Alvernia HS) added 14 points, including 7-of-10 from the foul line as the Lady Lions were 23-of-55 from the floor for 42 percent.
Darleen McLeod (Bronx, N.Y./John F. Kennedy HS),
Krystal Fluellen (New York, N.Y./Richard Green HS) and
Mfon Ekanem (Springdale, Md./C.H. Flowers HS) led the way on the glass with eight rebounds each.
A 23-12 run late in the first half gave the Lady Falcons a 43-29 advantage at the break and Saint Augustine's didn't look back.
Ebony Spencer led the Lady Falcons (6-5, 1-0) with 16 points on 7-of-15 from the floor. Keianna Evans had 16 points, while Jolisa Williams chipped in with 12. Keyona Bryant recorded a double-double, 14 points and 12 boards and Umeka Benson pulled down 10 rebounds as Saint Augustine's was 26-of-71 from the floor for 37 percent, but went 26-of-47 from the foul line.
The Lady Lions have their CIAA home opener 5:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 7 at Manuel Rivero Hall against Livingstone College.
