Denyse Moore (Hampton, Va./Woodside HS) scored 10 of her team-high 16 points in the first half, but it wasn't enough as the Lincoln University women's basketball team dropped a 63-44 decision to Bowie State on Saturday night at Manuel Rivero Hall in a CIAA Northern Division game.
Moore had 16 points on 5-of-10 shooting and finished with three assists and three rebounds to lead the Lady Lions (5-16 overall, 1-8 CIAA, 1-2 CIAA Northern).
Cynthia Johnson (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) had 13 points as Lincoln was 15-of-51 shooting for 29 percent.
In the first half, neither team grabbed more than a four-point, but it was a
Courtney Lucas (Washington, DC/Friendship Collegiate Academy) jumper with 11 seconds remaining to give Lincoln a 32-30 lead, but a bucket by Juilette Turner as time expired sent the two teams into the break tied at 32.
Bowie State (3-13, 3-6, 2-1) controlled the second half and out-scored Lincoln, 31-12, to get the win.
Chanita Jordan paced the Lady Bulldogs with 20 points on 8-of-15 shooting. Turner added 14 points and eight boards, while Brooke Miles chipped in with 10 points as Bowie State shot 44 percent (25-of-57) from the field.
