RALEIGH, N.C. – A big second-half run was the difference as the Lincoln University women's basketball team dropped a 67-51 decision on Thursday night to Shaw in a CIAA game at C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium.
Denyse Moore (Hampton, Va./Woodside HS) led the way for Lincoln (4-13 overall, 0-6 CIAA) with 12 points on 4-of-15 shooting.
Cynthia Johnson (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute),
Sharay DuBose (Salisbury, Md./Parkside HS) and
Krystal Fluellen (New York, N.Y./Richard Green HS) each had nine points as the Lady Lions were 19-of-74 (26 percent) from the floor.
Lincoln used an 11-1 run during a five-minute stretch in the first half to take a 23-17 advantage after a Johnson free throw with 5:37 remaining. The Lady Bears rallied and took a 29-25 lead into the half.

Tahlar McIntosh (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Alvernia HS) jumper with 13:59 remaining cut the Shaw lead to 38-37 and the Lady Lions took a 43-42 advantage with 12:08 left as McIntosh scored on a layup.
However, the Lady Bears (10-5, 6-0) went on a 20-2 run during the next eight minutes to grab a 62-45 advantage and the Lady Lions couldn't recover.
Aslea Williams paced Shaw with 14 points, including going 4-of-7 from the floor. Brittany Ransom and Alyssa Lane had 12 and 10 points, respectively. Kyria Buford led the way defensively with 19 rebounds, while Crystal Harris added 12 boards. Victoria Tanner pulled down 11 rebounds as the Lady Bears had the advantage on the glass, 63-31. Shaw shot 43 percent (23-of-54) from the field.
