Lady Lions open season on Saturday vs. Concordia

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. — The Lincoln University women's soccer team opens the season Saturday against Concordia College of New York and the Lady Lions will look to continue to improve under second-year coach N. Fabio Boateng.

“We look better and stronger in the middle of the field,” Boateng said. “It is a work in progress. The experience of the returning players have helped settled the 'fun bunch' (new players). The girls are more passionate and has put in a lot more throughout the preseason. I'm excited about the season.”

The Lady Lions, who went 1-14 last season, return eight players from last year's team. Mariah Coates (Reading, Pa./Reading Senior HS) (Midfielder) and Shira Miller (Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt HS) (Defender) accounted for four goals combined and nine points. Also returning to the team are Mariah Liberty (Waterbury, Vt./Harwood Union HS) (Midfielder), Shaynita Blanchard (Washington, D.C./Archbishop Carroll HS) (Forward), Keisha Nsiah-Ababio (Midfielder), Kelly Thibeau (Laurel, Del./Laurel Senior HS) (Midfielder), Tara Brown (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway Center City HS) (Midfielder) and Sinforosa Sima (Scarsdale, N.Y./Mount Vernon HS) (Defender). The addition of Stephanie Anderson (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville Area HS) (Forward) and other top recruits – Courtney Moss (Freeport, Bahamas/Sunland Baptist Academy) (Defender), Cierra Bean (Penacook, N.H./New Hampton HS) (Defender), Jada Benn (Abingdon, MD/Harford Technical HS) (Defender), Kayla Ahern (Aurora, Colo./Eaglecrest HS) (Goalkeeper) and Tara O'Brien (Twickenham London, UK/St. Mark's Catholic School) (Midfielder) – will help.
