Three second half goals lifts Lincoln to first win

MURFREESBORO, N.C. – Three second half goals propelled the Lincoln University women's soccer team to its first win of the season, a 3-1 victory, on Sunday at Chowan University. 
 
“This is a collective effort from the girls,” Lincoln head coach N. Fabio Boateng said. “We have been knocking on the door all season and finally got the break. We need to keep the momentum going into the rest of the season.”
 
The Lady Hawks grabbed a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute as Alaina Beasley scored off a free kick from about 30 yards out.
 
Chowan (1-7) took the 1-0 advantage into the half, but Lincoln (1-8-1) tied the game at 1 as Cierra Bean (Penacook, N.H./New Hampton HS)'s cross on a corner kick found Courtney Moss (Freeport, Bahamas/Sunland Baptist Academy) for the goal in the 63rd minute.
 
Tara O'Brien (Twickenham London, UK/St. Mark's Catholic School) broke the 1-all tie in the 75th minute on an unassisted goal as she beat two defenders and beat Chowan goalkeeper Shauna Anderson to the far post to give the Lady Lions a 2-1 advantage. Kesha Nsiah-Ababio (Silver Spring, Md./James Hubert Blake HS) put the game away in the 90th minute as Anderson was trying to clear the ball, Nsiah-Ababio stole the ball and scored to give the Lady Lions a 3-1 victory.
 
Sima Sinforosa finished with a pair of saves in goal for Lincoln, while Anderson recorded eight.
 
Lincoln out-shot Chowan, 23-11, and had a 3-1 edge in corner kicks.
 
The Lady Lions remain on the road and will take on Valley Forge Christian College on Thursday, Oct. 13 in Phoenixville, Pa. Kickoff for the match is scheduled for 4 p.m.
