Goldey-Beacom powers past Lincoln

WILMINGTON, Del.  — The Lincoln University women's soccer team surrendered six first-half goals as the Lady Lions dropped an 8-0 decision on Thursday afternoon to Goldey-Beacom.
 
The Lightning (6-6) opened the scoring in the 10th minute as Ashley Longo scored off a corner kick taken by Marissa Valladares, and just 15 seconds later, Valladares found the back of the net off a cross from Kelly Williams to give Goldey-Beacom a 2-0 advantage.
 
Valladares and Williams tallied the next two Lightning goals in the 16th minute and Goldey-Beacom extended the margin to 6-0 before halftime on goals by Alexandra Smith and Luciana Pereira.
 
In the second half, Shaana Headley and Joniqua Washington registered goals to give the Lightning the 8-0 victory.
 
Kesha Nsiah-Ababio (Silver Spring, Md./James Hubert Blake HS) recorded six saves for the Lady Lions (1-10-1) in 45 minutes in the net and Sima Sinforosa added two saves. Alyssa Vetrano had six saves for Goldey-Beacom.
 
The Lady Lions will have Senior Day 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 22 at Oxford High School as Lincoln plays host to Salem International.
