Johnson C. Smith games moved to Wednesday

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (January 11, 2011) — Lincoln University's basketball games against Johnson C. Smith University have been postponed once more as weather conditions have brought the South to a virtual standstill.

With the ice storms battering the region, both schools agreed to postpone the contests until Wednesday. The women's and men's CIAA action begins with a matchup of the ladies at 2 p.m. The doubleheader was originally set for Monday night.

The Lincoln women (1-8, 0-2 CIAA) are coming off two straight losses including a tough, 71-62, defeat to the Lady Lions. Freshman point guard Cynthia Johnson (Randallstown, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) was named the conference's women's basketball rookie of the week for tallying the first double-digit point nights of her career. Johnson C. Smith, meanwhile, is an unblemished 9-0.

Like the women, the LU men (1-8, 0-2 CIAA) have dropped their last two CIAA games. Saturday, the Lions fell at Livingstone, 82-60.
Denzel Mooney (Baltimore, Md./Western School of Technology), though, was named the men's newcomer of the week for his back-to-back 24-point games. The Golden Bulls are 7-4 and have won five straight including wins over Chowan University and Elizabeth City State last week.

After the game, both teams travel to Fayetteville State for a Thursday-night doubleheader to culminate the three-game road swing. LU returns home on Jan. 17 against Winston-Salem State
