Ekanem dominates in Richmond, LU falls

Mfon Ekanem is making teams wonder how good she'll be next year.
RICHMOND, Va. — In a low-scoring affair, Lincoln lost to Virginia Union, 53-47, Monday night at Barco-Stevens Hall.

Mfon Ekanem (Springdale, Md./C.H Flowers HS) (Springdale, Md./Charles H. Flowers) had 13 rebounds, seven points and a staggering four blocks for the Lady Lions, showing increased comfort and a commanding post presence in a game dominated by the defenses.

Both squads struggled early as the Lady Panthers would lead 24-14 at intermission. In that opening frame, the Lady Lions shot just 21.4 percent while VUU was 25.8 percent.

In the second half, the offense found comfort. Lincoln (3-20) shot 3 of 8 from three and trimmed into the deficit, but VUU also kept stride to preserve the victory.

Sharay DuBose (Salisbury, Md./Parkside HS) (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) led LU with 13 points.
