Harris and Lincoln fall to Saint Augustine's

Chanelle Harris played all 40 minutes for the second straight game.

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA. (January 24, 2009) – Chanelle Harris led the Lincoln University of Pennsylvania women's basketball team in scoring for the second consecutive game with 15 points, but it wasn't enough as the Lady Lions dropped a 75-49 decision to visiting Saint Augustine's College Saturday evening at Manuel Rivero Hall.(BOXSCORE)

 

Harris also played the entire 40 minutes for the second consecutive contest. Harris, who would lead the CIAA in assists per game if Lincoln were eligible to be ranked among the league leaders, handed out five assists and grabbed four steals.

 

Sharay DuBose (Salisbury, Md./Parkside HS) added 14 points and nine rebounds for Lincoln. Tanina Cook (Landover, MD/Charles H. Flowers) finished with nine points and eight rebounds.  

 

Freshman Keyona Bryant, the favorite for the CIAA Rookie of the Year award, scored a game-high 26 points on 11-for-12 shooting. LeKiesha White added 13 points and eight assists for the Lady Falcons (10-7 overall). Brittany Parker scored 12 points and Eliezer Iceson grabbed 15 rebounds for St. Augustine's.

 

Lincoln held an early 10-6 advantage following a Harris 3-pointer five minutes into the game. Noel Webster (Hagerstown, MD/Elkton) made her first shot since last February when she made a 14-foot jumper to give Lincoln a 13-10 lead with 13:12 remaining. The Lady Falcons scored eight straight points to take the lead for good.

 

Lincoln returns to action Monday night when it hosts Johnson C. Smith University at 7:30 p.m.
