Cook reaches milestone in Lincoln defeat to Kutztown

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA. (November 25, 2008) – Lincoln University of Pennsylvania senior forward Tanina Cook (Landover, MD/Charles H. Flowers) (Landover, MD/Charles H. Flowers) scored her 600th career point during a 75-48 setback to visiting Kutztown University Tuesday evening at Manuel Rivero Hall. (BOXSCORE)

Cook finished with 10 points to raise her career total to 609. Needing one point to reach 600 for her career, Cook immediately took care of that by making a 3-pointer with 17:02 remaining in the first half that tied the game, 7-7. It was Cook's first shot of the game. Cook also grabbed four rebounds to move her career total to 498.

Lincoln freshman Sharay DuBose (Salisbury, MD/Parkside) scored 11 of her team-high 14 points in the second half. In her last two games, DuBose has scored 27 points after intermission. She has scored in double figures in each of her first six games, the first Lincoln freshman to do so since Sha'nice Nesmith accomplished the feat during the 2006-07 season. Nesmith began her career by reaching double figures in seven straight games. DuBose has led Lincoln in scoring half of the Lady Lions games.

Making her first career start, freshman Jasmine Jones (Sharon Hill, PA/Academy Park) finished with a career-high nine points and seven rebounds. Lincoln sophomore DeJuana Mosley (Chester, PA/Chester) added nine points for the Lady Lions (1-5 overall).

Kutztown (4-0) remained undefeated by getting 27 points and eight rebounds from Melissa McQuaide. Also reaching double digits for the Golden Bears were Rachel Wisemiller (16 points), Katie Dovery (12 points) and Chauntelle Schroeder (10 points).

Lincoln returns to action Saturday afternoon when it hosts Shaw University, ranked 25th in the latest ESPN/USA Today Division II Top 25 poll, at 1:00 p.m. Kutztown's next game is at Columbia Union College on Wednesday December 3 beginning at 7:00 p.m.
