Lady Lions Basketball Falls to Elizabeth City State 94-73

ELIZABETH CITY, NC (November 22, 2008)The Lincoln University women's basketball team lost 94-73 against CIAA opponent Elizabeth City State University despite having three players reach double figures on Saturday evening.  (BOXSCORE)

 

Lincoln freshman guard Sharay DuBose (Salisbury, MD/Parkside) led the way for the Lady Lions as she poured in a team high 20 points in 34 minutes, and added six rebounds, four assists, and two steals in the game.  DuBose scored 16 of her 20 points in the second half.  Senior forward Tanina Cook (Landover, MD/Charles H. Flowers) (Landover, MD/Charles H. Flowers) had a great game as well adding 17 points of her own while pulling down seven rebounds and dishing out two assists.  Cook was 5-16 from the floor and a perfect 4-4 from the charity stripe.  Sophomore guard DeJuana Mosely (Chester, PA/Chester) was the third player reaching double figures with 12 points and while pulling down seven rebounds.

 

The Lady Lions were 25-64 from the floor shooting just under 40 percent for the game.  They added a stellar 18-20 from the free throw line but committed 32 turnovers which ended up being the difference in the game.

 

Elizabeth City State ended the game with five players in double figures with Joyce Freeman leading the way scoring 36 points. Freeman was 15-26 from the floor and 4-7 from behind the three-point arc.  April Whitaker was a major factor as well as she put in 12 points and pulled down eight rebounds to help the cause.  Briana Glover chipped in with 11 points and eight assists while Ashley Anderson and Kearah Jefferys each added 10 points and combined for 10 rebounds for the Vikings.

 

Lincoln University will be back in action on Tuesday November 25 when they come back to the Lion's Den at Manuel Rivero Hall to play host to Kutztown University of Pennsylvania.  Tip-off is set for 5:30pm.
