Williams Named CIAA Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week

Lincoln University men's basketball player Deaquan Williams (Camden, N.J./Camden) has been named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Rookie of the Week for his performance during the week ending February 11, 2018.

This week's honor is the second for Williams who earned CIAA rookie of the Week honors on December 5, 2017.

In two games last week, Williams averaged ten points, nine rebounds, and 4.5 blocks per game while shooting 53.3% from the field, turning in two solid all-around performances.

Opening the week against CIAA North Division rival Bowie State University, Williams recorded his fourth double-double of the season, grabbing 13 rebounds while scoring ten points.  He also had a career-high six blocks, the most in a game by a Lions player since November 2014.

Williams added three more blocks in the Lions' win over Elizabeth City state University on Saturday while scoring ten points.  He was a perfect 5-for-5 from the field in the game.

The freshman forward has reached double figures in four of his last five games and ten times this season and has grabbed ten or more rebounds seven times in 23 games played.

The former Camden High School basketball player is in his first year of play for the Lions, who are 11-12 overall this season under second-year head coach Doug Overton.
