Head Coach Ethel Watson

Ethel Watson is no stranger to Lincoln University or the athletic department. Her connection with Lincoln starts as an alum class of 1983. A native of Philadelphia, she attended Lincoln while raising three sons and a nephew.

As an avid tennis player and fan, the game came naturally for Coach Watson to become certified as a USPTR instructor in 1986. Since then, she has taught at various private clubs, directed community programs/tournaments, and participated as a guest clinician for junior programs in elementary schools and summer camps. Coach Watson had also spent time as a local reporter interviewing professional players on the circuit. She had an opportunities to interview a few more well-known legends of tennis such as Arthur Ashe, Martina Navratilova, Andre Agassi, Steffie Graf, Chris Evert, Michael Chang and Pam Shriver during their hay days of tennis.

After more than 25 years of tennis, she is still having fun.

A Magna Cum Laude honoree and sixth in her class, Coach Watson earned a Bachelor’s of science degree in Early Childhood Education, garnering the department’s outstanding student award along the way. Her affinity for children has lead her to more than 30 years in directing day care programs and teaching, which she still enjoys to this day.

Some of the activities and organizations Coach Watson has been involved with include CHI National Honor Society, Home and School President, Week of the Young Child Coordinator, Lincoln Community Center, Southern Chester County YMCA, charity fund raisers, and as an elected official in East Nottingham Township. Coach Watson is also Gold Medal Certified in Volleyball
