LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA. (November 1, 2008) – The inside story of the return of the Lincoln University of Pennsylvania football team will be shared nationally on the ESPN2 show, “NFL Films: Presents.” The show, which is titled “Reborn and Reenergized” will air Tuesday November 4 at 1:30 a.m. and Wednesday November 5 at 2:00 p.m. on ESPN2.
The 571st show of the series will focus on Lincoln's return to football after a 48-year absence and a look at the training regimen of Seahawks defensive end Patrick Kerney. Hall of Fame broadcaster Steve Sabol is the host of the show.
Lincoln, which played its home games at Avon Grove High School, finished the 2008 season with a 1-9 record following a 23-20 defeat to Saint Paul's College. The Lincoln football team was featured in Sports Illustrated following its 34-7 season-opening victory over George Mason on August 30.
NFL Films Presents is a documentary-style feature on various aspects of the sport, including its history, players and officials.
Founded in 1854, Lincoln University is the first historically black institution of higher education and its graduates include such luminaries as Thurgood Marshall, the first African American justice of the United States Supreme Court, and acclaimed poet and author Langston Hughes. Lincoln University is nationally regarded for producing African Americans with undergraduate degrees in the physical sciences.
