Lions Record Eleven Personal-Best Marks at CIAA Indoor Track and Field Championships

The Lincoln University women's indoor track and field team recorded 11 personal best efforts as they placed eighth at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Indoor Track and Field Championships on Monday at JDL Fasttrack in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Five of the personal best marks came in the pentathlon where Kayla Tisdale (Richmond, Va./Cosby) recorded a fifth place finish in the event.

The Lions finished the meet with 12 points, ten points behind seventh place Virginia Union University.  St. Augustine's won the event for the third time in six years with 162 points.

In the pentathlon competition, Tisdale recorded 2667 points for a fifth place finish.  The CIAA women's field MVP Magaly Tshipopo won the event with 3,508 points.  Tisdale's 2667 points is a personal best and also the highest pentathlon total for a Lincoln athlete in the school's NCAA Division II era. 

The freshman athlete set personal best marks in four of the five events in the pentathlon, clearing 1.43 meters (4' 8¼") in the high jump; throwing 8.11 meters (26') in the shot put; jumping 4.83 meters (15'10") in the long jump and running 2:51.46 in the 800 meter run.  Tisdale missed setting a personal best in the 60 hurdles by .02 seconds, completing the race in 9.78 seconds.   Tisdale also ran the same time in the 60 meter hurdles race placing ninth in that event.

In the triple jump, Krystahl Gordon (Fredriksted, V.I./Saint Croix Edu Complex) jumped 10.86 meters (35' 7¾") to place fifth and give the Lions four more points while Lincoln's 4 x 400 meter relay team of Adia Berkel (Wilmington, Del. /Brandywine), Kayla Butts (Lansdowne, Pa./Bonner-Prendergast), Lacendria  Pulley and Osa Enabulele (East Orange, N.J./Cicely L. Tyson) recorded a season best mark of 4:12.84 to also placing fifth and score four more points for the Lions, rounding out their scoring in the meet.   

Enabulele also placed ninth in the 800 meter run with a personal-best time of 2:37.63.  Pulley recorded personal best times in both the 200  (27.44 seconds) and 400 (1:03.500 meter dash events while Butts had a personal-best time of 8.35 in the 60-meter dash.  Berkel set an indoor personal-best mark of 26:58 seconds in the 200 meter dash.

In the field events, Diana Martinez (Kissimmee, Fla./St. Cloud) placed tenth overall with a throw of 11.19 meters (36' 8½") while Destiny Greene (Stone Mountain, Ga./ South Shore (N.Y.)) recorded a personal-best toss of 8.96 meters (29' 4¾").

The women's track team will now focus on preparations for the upcoming outdoor season which will begin in mid-March.
