The Lincoln University men's track and field team turned in another solid performance at Saturday's Millersville Metric Invite, as they notched eight top ten finishes en route to a ninth place finish.

The Lions scored a total of 39 points to place ninth amongst the 22 teams competing. Georgian Court University, a division II school from Lakewood, New Jersey was the top men's team with 117 points.

Sprinter
Michael Brown (Norristown, Pa,/Norristown HS) again led the way for Lincoln, winning the 100-meter dash and anchoring the Lions 4 x 100 meter relay team to a first place finish with a season best time of 43.31 seconds. In the 100 meter dash, Brown won his heat and earned the first place overall finish with a time of 11.11 seconds. The senior sprinter also took home a second place finish in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.41 seconds. Brown currently ranks sixth amongst all Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Outdoor sprinters in both sprint events. The Lions 4 x 100 relay team has the fourth fastest time amongst the CIAA schools so far this season.

Moving away from the track to the jumping events, the Lions scored their remaining 11 points in the high jump as James Richardson, making his collegiate debut, jumped 1.95 meters (6' 4¾") to finish in a tie for second place.Â
Rhashawn Jenkins-Powell (Neptune, N.J/Neptune HS), the Lions top high jumper in the indoor season, placed fifth overall with an outdoor-best jump of 1.90 meters (6'2¾").Â

The Lions notched two PR's (personal record) in the field events as
Eriq Royal (South Orange, NJ/Columbia High School) tossed the javelin 47.18 meters (154' 9") and
Daniel Williams (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville HS) jumped to a ninth place finish in the long jump with a leap of 6.07 meters (19' 11").

Heading back to the track, Williams turned in a season-best time of 16.69 seconds en route to a ninth place finish in the 110 meter high hurdles.Â
Anthony Watkins (New Castle, Del/Neumann University) rounded out the Lions top ten finishes, placing ninth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 51.33
Lincoln's final PR came in the 1,500 meter run as
Terrell Wallace (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby HS) finished the race in 5:02.71

The Lions return to action next Saturday, April 8, 2017 when they compete at the Bowie State University Classic.
