The Lincoln University softball team knocked out a total of 30 hits as they completed their season series sweep of Trinity Washington University with a doubleheader sweep over the Tigers 14-1 and 18-9 Wednesday in Washington, D.C.

The Lions improve to 6-18 with the two wins and complete a four game series sweep, having defeated the Tigers twice at Lincoln back on March 30
th. Trinity falls to 1-15.

Alexis Harrod (Kiribati, South Korea/Seoul American HS) pitched both games and earned a pair of wins to improve to 5-12 on the season. She allowed just one run and five hits while striking out eight in the Lions five-inning 14-1 win in the opener and nine runs (eight earned) and 11 hits while striking out ten in the nightcap.

In the opener,
Tierra Russaw (Westland, Mich./Summit Academy) went 3-4 with a double and drove in three runs;
Diana Martinez (Kissimmee, Fla./St. Cloud HS) hit her first collegiate home run and had two RBI and two hits.Â
Ashley Juma (Brandywine, Md./Fairmont Hgts. HS) also drove in two runs and
Aundrea Hall (San Antonio, Texas/Naples HS (Italy)) scored three times.

The Lions struck first as
Diamond Scott (Piscataway,N.J/Piscataway, N.J.) tripled with one out in the first and later scored on a passed ball. Harrod drew a walk and later scored on a wild pitch in the same inning to make the score 2-0.Â

Two inning later Harrod started a five run outburst by reaching on an error and stealing second before scoring on
Breanna Pigford (Mullica Hill, NJ/ Kingsway Regional HS )'s double. Russaw also had a RBI double in the inning with Juma adding an RBI groundout and
Diamond Mickle (Fredericksburg, Va./Harford Comm. Coll.) a sacrifice fly in the infield. Martinez capped the inning with a solo home run, giving Lincoln a 7-1 lead.

The Lions strung together seven hits in the fourth inning, scoring six times to blow the game open and take a 13-1 lead. Juma, Russaw, Martinez and
Jasmin Harrison (Bridgeport, Conn./Bassick HS) all had RBI singles in the inning while Harrod drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.  Russaw's fifth inning single scored Hall with the final Lions run.

In the second game, Pigford had four hits, including a double and a triple while driving in two runs. Harrison also had a double and a triple and drove in three runs. Hall also had three RBI while Mickle and Harrod had two RBI apiece.

The Tigers jumped on Harrod in the first inning, getting four hits and scoring five times while sending eight batters to the plate. Russaw got the Lions on the board with an RBI groundout in the second.

In the third Martinez singled to start the inning and scored on Harrison's triple as Harrison followed her home via an infield error. Hall's RBI single pulled the Lions within one 5-4 before the inning ended.

Lincoln sent ten batters to the plate in the fourth, scoring six times to take a 10-5 lead. Harrison drove in the first two runs with a double and later scored the third run with a steal of home.  Scott singled and later scored on Harrod's infield groundout and Pigford scored the fifth run of the inning on a passed ball. Hall scored the final run of the inning as Mickle reached on an error.

Trinity came right back with four runs in the bottom of the fourth to pull within one 10-9. In the Lions next at-bat Martinez made the score 11-9 when she scored on a wild pitch and then got four more insurance runs the next inning, highlighted by doubles from Pigford and Martinez, the latter scoring Juma to give Lincoln a 15-9 lead.

Lincoln plated three more runs in their final at-bat with Scott hitting a one-out double and scoring on Harrod's single. Harrod scored on Pigford's triple and Pigford scored on Hall's infield groundout to complete the scoring.

Harrod meanwhile held the Tigers to just one single over the final three innings as she earned her fifth win of the season.
