Lincoln University Head Track and Field Coach Quanette Ford was named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Women's Outdoor Track and field coach of the Week for guiding her team to successful performances in the Lions opening two meets of the season.
This week's honor marks the third time during the 2016-2017 season that Ford has earned a CIAA Coach of the Week honor. Quanette was named CIAA Men's Indoor Track and Field Coach of the Week twice during the winter season, having earned the honor for the weeks ending January 19, 2017 and February 8, 2017.
In Saturday's Golden Ram Invitational, Coach Ford guided her women's squad to a total of 10 personal records and 12 top ten finishes. This included four PR's in the jumping events (both triple jumpers and two long jumpers). Lincoln's two triple jumpers Tamara Jones (Chicago, Ill./Brooks College Prep) and McKenzie Spencer (Richmond, Va./Henrico HS) earned ECAC Women's Outdoor Track and Field weekly honors for the personal best performances at the meet, as Jones was named field Athlete of the Week and Spencer Rookie of the Week for the second straight week.
Lincoln opened their outdoor season with an eighth place finish at the Maryland Invitational.  Ford coached senior Christian Harris (Rochester, N.Y./The Aquinas Institute) to a school record toss in the javelin, the top performance amongst 5 personal records set by her Lincoln athletes in the meet. Junior Adia Berkel (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine HS) also set two personal records in the 200 and 400 meter dash events. Berkel, Harris and Spencer all earned ECAC Women's Outdoor Track and Field Weekly honors based on their performances at the Maryland Invitational.
Ford is in her first season at the helm of Lincoln's track and field and cross country programs. She served as an assistant coach for the Lions from 2011-2013.
The Lions return to action on Saturday, April 1, 2017 when they compete at the Millersville Metric Invite.
