A first-place finish by sprinter
Michael Brown (Norristown, Pa,/Norristown HS) along with three season bests and a pair of personal records highlighted the Lincoln University men's track team's performance at the DeSchriver Invitational held at East Stroudsburg University on Sunday.
The meet featured teams from 17 different schools with NCAA Division II, Division III and community colleges represented as well as three eastern area track clubs.
Brown won the 200-meter dash event for the third time this season, recording a time of 22.70 and besting 33 other competitors in the event. The senior sprinter also won the event at the Bow-Tie Classic and the Collegeville classic and also took second at the Villanova Open. Brown also took home fourth place in the long jump competition, jumping 6.32 meters (20'9"). Â
Daniel Williams (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville HS) set a personal-mark in the long jump with a leap of 5.79 meters (19' 0"), placing ninth in the event. He also ran to a fourth place finish in the 55-meter high hurdles with a time of 8.08 seconds.
The day's other personal best mark belonged to
Marcus Kinard (York, PA/West York HS) in the 800-meter run. Kinard placed 12
th overall with a time of 2:06.03, his fastest 800 time to date.   Teammate Deoindre Brown also ran a season best time in the event, crossing the finish line in 2:13.79.
Seven additional top ten finishes also highlighted the day for the Lincoln squad with
Brandin House (Killeen, Texas/Killeen HS) recording three of them. House, competing in the triple jump for the first time, placed sixth overall with a leap of 12.73 meters (41' 9¼"). He was also eighth in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 3:28.46 and tenth in the long jump with a leap of 5.76 meters (18' 10¾").  It was also House's first time racing in the 1,000-meter race.
Rhashawn Jenkins-Powell (Neptune, N.J/Neptune HS) took third place in the high jump competition, clearing the bar at 1.90 meters (6' 2¾") while
Solomon Potter (Lindenwood N.J./Timber Creek HS) rounded out the Lions top ten finishes in the field events with a seventh place effort in the shot put competition. Potter threw the shot, 12.83 meters (42' 1¼").
Rounding out the individual top ten finishes was
Frederick Sinclair (West Chester, Pa./West Chester-Rustin HS). Sinclair like house was a first-timer in the 1,000-meter run while placing ninth with a time of 3:38.30.   The Lions 4 x 200-meter relay time of
Nycere Walker (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine HS),
Jabari Thomas (Washington, D.C./Hampton U.), Sinclair and
Davon Tate (Baltimore, Md./Morgan State Univ.) placed eighth overall with a time of 1:38.95
Next up for the Lions track team is the CIAA Indoor Track Championships on February 12-13, 2017 at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia.
