Arianna Polk (Philadelphia, PA/Central HS) ran a personal best time of 19:49.55 to finish in eighth place overall at the 2016 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Cross Country Championships at Joseph Bryan Park in Richmond, Virginia Thursday morning, earning all-conference honors in the process.
It's the first such honor for Polk, a second-year runner from Central High School in Philadelphia. Her efforts along with personal-best times from each of her teammates, led the Lions to a sixth place team finish with 149 points at this year's championship. Winston-Salem State won the team title, placing five runners on the All-CIAA team to finish with 27 points.
Senior
Genae Butler (Baltimore, MD/Western HS) was the second Lincoln runner to finish, crossing the line in 27
th place with a personal best time of 21:24.22. Right on her heals in 31
st place was
Joelle Polk (Philadelphia, PA/Central HS), finishing in 21:35.21, also a personal best.
Rounding out the Lions top five finishers were
Emani Parsons (Brooklyn, NY/Midwood HS) and
Adia Berkel (Wilmington, DE/Brandywine HS) , placing 41
st and 42
nd place respectively. Parsons completed the 5K course in 22:41.22 while Berkel finished in 22:41.80. Both times were personal bests.
Cleo Spear (Sydney, Australia/Oxford Falls Grammar School) and Sydney Anderson rounded out the Lincoln finishers. Spear placed 44
th overall with a personal best time of 22:45.92 while Anderson also recorded a personal best, finishing 47
th with a time of 23:13.45.
