Penn Relays Wrap-up

Every time the track and field universe descends on Franklin Field for the Penn Relays, the weekend is more than an event — it becomes a spectacle.

The 116th installment was no exception. The world's fastest man Usain Bolt thrilled nearly 60,000 spectators with an 8.79 anchor leg of the 4x100 in the USA versus the World event.

Although that day highlighed the festivities, Lincoln was not without distinguished times and marks. The men's sprint medley took home
commemorative gold watches by winning the IC4A Championship, a thrilling race that saw Matthew Coston (Queens, N.Y./Dover HS) (Brooklyn, NY, Dover) track down two runners in the home stretch to swipe the victory from an unexpectant field.

Jared Randle (Kanakee, IL/Kanakee) (Kanakakee, IL, Kanakakee) leapt 25 feet, 1.75 inches for fourth in the ECAC Championships. He was only 2.25 inches off the school record and actually tied the preceding event record.

The women's 4x400 ran a 3:45.73, just off the school record of 3:45.05 to open the action for LU.

To commemorate the weekend, below are several links. The first takes you to the game notes for this weekend featuring previous season best performances as well as a preview story.

Next is a photo gallery with images captured through the lense of the father of Antonia Jones (Philadelphia, PA/Northeast) (Philadelphia, PA, Northeast) as his daughter and Esha Wannamaker (Wilmington, DE, Glasgow), Kristina Rembert (Bronx, NY/Cathedral) (Bronx, NY, Cathedral), and Keishana LaRose attempted to make Lady Lion history.

Finally is a photo gallery by Dave Tavani, who caught several of Randle's leaps as well as the men's 4x400 race. His photos are available for purchase
here.

Lincoln alum and photojournalist Khalid Naji-Allah captured an impressive shot of Randle's
best jump, his first.
