Solid all-around performance for Lincoln

NEW YORK, N.Y. — It was an impressive showing all across the board for head coach Cyrus Jones and his men's track and field team as they participated at the Armory Track at the Fast Track Invitational.

 

The highlights of the weekend were Matthew Coston (Queens, N.Y./Dover HS) and the 4x400 relay team. Coston, who plays receiver on the football squad, finished second in the 800 meters with a time of 1:50.72. Vincent Thomas (Columbia, PA/Columbia, PA) placed 23rd out of 52 in the event with a time of 1:57.94.

 

Alex Wright (Brooklyn, NY/John Dewey), Randy Dawkins, Anthony Bishop (Philadelphia, PA/Martin Luther King), and Coston teamed up to run a 3:17.27 in the 4x400 meter relay. They placed second behind Delaware State, who ran a time of 3:15.96.

 

Bishop and Rushane Scott (Allentown, PA/William Allen) finished 4th and 5th with times of 6.92 and 6.96 respectively in the 60 meter dash.  A trio of runners enjoyed success in the 400 meter dash. Wright placed 21st with a time of 48.78, Dawkins ran for a time of 50.30 for 24th, and Todd Mason finished 30th after running a 50.40.

 

Deidre Mcleod placed 12th out of 37 runners in the 500 meter dash. He ran a time of 1:05.02. Jared Randle (Kanakee, IL/Kanakee) was another top performer, placing 6th in the long jump with a mark of 7.12 meters.

 

The team will return to action on Saturday as they go to Boston, Mass., to participate in the IC4A Championship Meet at Boston University.
