Third Annual Academic Luncheon set for Wednesday afternoon

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA (November 3, 2008) -- The Lincoln University of Pennsylvania athletics department will hold its Third annual Academic Recognition Luncheon on Wednesday November 5, 2008 in the Multi-Purpose Room of the Student Union Building beginning at Noon.

 

The academic luncheon honors student-athletes who completed the semester with cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. There will be 60 students honored from 11 sports.

 

The students honored will be Percy Bullock, Omar Glinton, Joe Kruemmer and Melvin Robinson from the baseball team. Women’s basketball honorees are Sasha Evans, Chanelle Harris, Keonie Morrisey and Dejuana Mosley. Alicia Beach, Shakia Blake, Tracey Coleman, Andrea Dennis, Shayla Dowdy, Angel Ferris, Brittany Harry, Crislove Igeleke, Toussaint Jordan, Amber Newton, Alysha Poles and Donielle Turner from the cheerleading squad.

 

From the women’s track and field team Kristina Rembert, Christiana Sansculotte and Nicole Young. Men’s track and field honorees include Davon Goldburough, Jamir Kirby, Todd Mason Jr., Andre Wilkinson and Len’l Russell. From the football team Myles Fleming, Dejurne McCall-Prince, Ronald Love, Gerald Foster and Justin James. Men’s soccer honorees include Oluwaseye Adekanye, Kirk Bishop, Marc-Eric Kouadio, Joseph Forde, Theon Francis, Jerrell Hooker, Kareem Morancie-Leid, Stephen Sangster, Andre Wilkinson and Yannick Goue. Women’s soccer honorees include Adaeze Chikwem, Collene Cumberbatch, Leslie Jefferson, Joy Floyd and Natalya Konstantinova.

 

The softball team will honor Alisa Davis, Sasha Evans, Stephanie Gibson, Sherrell Harwell, Chanelle Harris, and Dejuana Mosley. The tennis team will honor Sherrell Harwell, Osho Adedotun, Anthony Fluellen, Alfayo Michira and Stephen Sangster. Lindsey Wilson will also be honored form the volleyball team.

Athletes of the Week
Sharay DuBose
Women's Basketball
DuBose scored a career-high 22 points during Lincoln's defeat to Fayetteville State on Saturday Jan. 3. This is the second time this season, DuBose was named Lincoln Athlete of the Week. She also made a career-high four 3-pointers against the Broncos. DuBose notched her first career double-double (14 points, 11 rebounds) against Millersville on Dec. 6. DuBose scored 20 points on 7-for-12 shooting against Elizabeth City State. DuBose also finished with six rebounds and four assists in 34 minutes against ECSU. She scored 18 points in her first career game against Briarcliffe College. DuBose, who started against Briarcliffe, was named to the James A. Richardson all-tournament team after averaging a team-high 16.5 points and 4.0 rebounds. In addition, she has shot 50 percent or better from the field in four games. DuBose leads Lincoln in scoring (15.6) and free-throw percentage (46-for-58, 79.3%). She was named to the WCU Alumni Classic all-tournament team. Second on the team in steals with 16. DuBose has scored at least 15 points in eight games this season. DuBose leads Lincoln in scoring.
Damian  Hyman
Men's Basketball
Hyman scored 21 points for Lincoln during its 90-78 defeat to Fayetteville State Saturday evening. Hyman leads Lincoln with 32 3-pointers. He is 32-for-96 from beyond the arc. Hyman is averaging 16.8 points, which is second on the team. He is also averaging 4.9 rebounds. Hyman has made at least five 3-pointers in four games this season (Bowie State, Virginia Union, Elizabeth City State and Holy Family). Hyman averages 36 minutes. Hyman has scored 18 or more points five times this season (Bowie State-18, Saint Paul’s-22, Virginia Union-18, Holy Family-25, Fayetteville State-21). In six games against CIAA opponents, Hyman is averaging 17.3 points. Hyman also enjoys playing on Tuesday’s. In two games on Tuesday, Hyman is averaging 23.5 points per game.
