Lady Lions Volleyball Sweeps Valley Forge Christian

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA. (October 4, 2008) The Lincoln University Lady Lions snapped their four game home stand losing streak by sweeping the Valley Forge Christian College Patriots 3-0 at Manuel Rivero Hall on Saturday morning.  (BOXSCORE)

 

With this win, the Lady Lions have now swept the Patriots for the season winning both contests.  Lincoln senior mass communications major Jordean Matthews (Pleasantville, NJ/Pleasantville) had an outstanding game recording eight kills on nine attempts along with two service aces, two solo blocks, one block assist, and one dig. 

 

Along with Matthews, senior health science major Donneisha Smith (Milwaukee, WI/Harold S. Vincent) had a solid game with a combined eight kills, nine digs, and two block assists.  With those digs, Smith has reached the century mark in digs for the season. 

 

Setting up all of these kills was senior music education major Lia Hubbard (Farrell, PA/Farrell) who recorded 17 assists in the match bringing her season total to 307.  Hubbard also had two service aces and five digs to help in the series sweep.

 

The next match for the Lady Lions will be on October 7, 2008 at home against Goucher College at 7:00pm.

Lindsey Wilson
Volleyball
Wilson had a week to remember for the Lincoln volleyball team. She concluded the week by recording double digits in kills in consecutive games for the first time in her career. She had 10 kills in a tough 3-2 loss to Virginia Union on Thursday night. Less than 24 hours later, Wilson had 11 kills in a 3-0 road victory at Saint Paul's College. For the week, Wilson led Lincoln in kills (24), service aces (7) and digs (15). Wilson also had the highest hitting percentage during the week.

Football
Wilson had a strong afternoon returning kickoffs for the football team against Virginia State University, finishing with 116 return yards, including a career-high 35-yard return.
