Lincoln drops home match to Elizabeth City State

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA. (October 2, 2008) Elizabeth City State University extended its winning streak to12 by defeating the Lincoln University Lady Lions, 3-0 at Manuel Rivero Hall Thursday evening.  (BOXSCORE)

 

Lincoln senior and education major Lindsey Wilson (Aliquippa, PA/Aliquippa) and junior psychology major Kenyatta Austin (Newark, NJ/Immaculate Conception) combined for eight kills and seven digs in the match.  Sophonmore music education major and primary setter Lia Hubbard (Farrell, PA/Farrell) led the Lady Lions with 12 assists in the match. 

 

Jennifer Hendy of ECSU had a game high nine kills while teammates Stacie West and Xie’Ara Smallings combined for nine kills and four blocks.  Combined in the game, there were 26 service aces, ECSU with 15 and Lincoln University added 11.  Junior mass communications major Noel Webster (Hagerstown, MD/Elkton) had a game high five service aces. 

 

ECSU had eight players combine for 28 kills and nine players combine for 15 service aces.  They also had a total of 22 defensive digs.   

 

The Lady Lions return to action this Saturday September 4, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. against Valley Forge Christian College at home.

Anthony Wilson
Football
Wilson had a strong afternoon returning kickoffs for the football team against Virginia State University, finishing with 116 return yards, including a career-high 35-yard return.
Lindsey Wilson
Volleyball
Wilson had a week to remember for the Lincoln volleyball team. She concluded the week by recording double digits in kills in consecutive games for the first time in her career. She had 10 kills in a tough 3-2 loss to Virginia Union on Thursday night. Less than 24 hours later, Wilson had 11 kills in a 3-0 road victory at Saint Paul's College. For the week, Wilson led Lincoln in kills (24), service aces (7) and digs (15). Wilson also had the highest hitting percentage during the week.
