WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 14, 2008) – The Lincoln University of Pennsylvania women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw at Trinity (D.C.) University Tuesday evening. Sophomore Shaynita Blanchard (Portmore, Jamaica/Archbishop Carroll) scored the Lady Lions. Freshman keeper Brittany Johnson (Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro) was terrific in goal making several key saves and giving Lincoln an opportunity to win. (BOXSCORE TO BE POSTED LATER)
Also turning in strong efforts for Lincoln (4-8-2 overall) were Tanina Cook (Landover, MD/Charles H. Flowers), Tia Redden (New Castle, DE/St. Elizabeth's) and Leslie Jefferson (Havre De Grace, MD/). It was the second year in a row that Lincoln and Trinity played to a tie. Lincoln will have three more opportunities to establish a program record for wins in a season. The Lady Lions have scored 30 goals this season, a new program standard.
The Lady Lions return to action Thursday afternoon when it hosts Valley Forge Christian College beginning at 2:30 p.m.
